SUMMARY
1. Uses a variety of skills to install, repair, and maintain equipment and physical structure within the school district. The duties involve repairing kitchen equipment, repairing or replacing HVAC equipment and systems, determining and assisting in scheduling preventive maintenance, and other items as directed.
2. HVAC Technicians use tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
3. Will be required to read and understand diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals and schematic diagrams. Technician is responsible for ordering parts, supplies and equipment from industrial catalogs and suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Education and Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of HVAC Systems, experience with all types of combustion controls and boilers, and the equivalent of completion of twelfth grade supplemented by college level work in HVAC equipment maintenance and repair or a related field. (Some experience may be waived by appropriate schooling along with demonstrated proficiency in completed courses.) The CDSD requires EPA Section 608 Technician certifications Type I and II. Computer literate, understands VAV systems and BAS systems. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure; to perform the four operations with like or common decimal fractions; to compute ratio and proportion, and percentage; to calculate surfaces, volume, weights, and measures.
Must have normal or corrected vision, good hearing, full use of both arms, hands and legs. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, move and lift heavy objects, work in awkward positions and in tight quarters, and be in good overall physical condition. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
