FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

SUMMARY

The Dean of Students will assist the principal with student conduct and discipline. Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students.  Develop and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with district policies and state laws; receives referrals and confers with students, parents, and teachers.  Respond to and resolve parent, student and staff concerns and complaints.  Participate in IEP meetings and student study teams on an as needed basis.  Monitor and organize attendance functions and attend meetings as needed regarding absentee students.  Provide leadership in discipline and attendance improvement efforts.  Work with the Principal to establish a safe and secure learning environment for all students. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and abilities:

Establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships.  Relate to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective disciplinary program.  Model district standards of ethics, confidentiality and professionalism.  Apply knowledge of school code and district policy.  Create an environment where children from all backgrounds are comfortable and experience success.  Build positive relationships with students and families.  Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment and use effective interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesy.

Education and Experience:

The Dean of Students will be Secondary certified with 3-5 years classroom experience.

Physical Abilities:

The Dean of Students will be required to be Safe Crisis Management trained.

Building Location: Central Dauphin East High School
